A contemplative service of prayer, simple chants, imposition of ashes, and holy communion. This simple, traditional service in the French Taizé tradition is a deeply meaningful way in which to begin our reflective and contemplative season of Lent.
This will be a time in which we can each experience God in our midst and feel the Spirit transcending the ordinary as we sing simple, repetitive songs and chants, reflect on selected readings, and immerse ourselves into an extended period of silent prayer.
There will be a special time in which all will be invited to receive communion and the traditional imposition of ashes, as we leave in silence into the night, mindful of our own mortality and the grace of God offered to us in Jesus Christ.
