Psalms of praise offer us a radical hope: The Lord reigns! God is a gracious ruler, not simply enthroned on high, but one who provides for us, protects the weak, and intervenes for the helpless. When we offer prayers of praise to God, we’re not just flattering God to earn bonus points. Instead, we’re praising God to see the world as God does. Through Psalms of praise, we allow the motions of our hearts to come into harmony with the movements of our lips (St. Benedict).
