Music Ministries

The worship of God through music has long been an important value of the people of First Methodist. We are passionate about using beautiful music to enhance our worship of God. Music Ministries provide an opportunity for people in our faith community to share their gifts with God and the congregation. Participating in one of our music groups is also a great way to build friendships and enjoy fellowship with other church members!

Chancel Choir Rehearsals

Our Chancel Choir will resume their regularly scheduled weekly rehearsals soon! Regular rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:00-8:15pm in the Choir Room. If you’re interested in joining, just contact Chuck Prestinari at chuckp@fumcb.org or come to any of the Thursday rehearsals.

The Chancel Choir regularly prepares traditional, sacred anthems for our Sunday morning services in the sanctuary. The choir is joined by professional section leaders from the Jacobs School of Music, and is often joined by instrumentalists playing strings, wind, and brass instruments, as well as piano and organ. One does not need to audition to join the Chancel Choir, nor does one need to be a musician (though some knowledge of music is always helpful).

Common Ground band

Rehearsals on Thursdays | 6:30-8:00pm

Do you sing or play an instrument? The Common Ground Band worship team is hard at work on new music and is looking for new band members. All skill levels are welcome, but it helps if you can learn music by ear. We rehearse every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00. If you are interested, please contact David Price, daaprice@indiana.edu.

choral Concerts

A fantastic example of the excellence of our Music Ministries was our 2021 Advent Concert. If you enjoy classic carols and traditional hymns delivered by a prolific choir, you’ll love this concert!

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
— Psalm 95:1
